We believe in providing them with the best, which is why we carefully monitor their health and make sure they receive regular, high-quality nutrition from the moment they are born.
Every guinea pig that leaves our care is well-socialized, playful, and ready to bring joy to its new family. We love getting to know each of our guinea pigs and taking the time to bond with them, so they grow up to be loving companions who will make an amazing addition to your family. FAQ's
Q. How old are the baby guinea pigs when you can sell them?
At Pigs On Petals, we make our baby guinea pigs available for sale when they are between 6 and 7 weeks old. This is a carefully considered age, as they have been fully weaned and independent. However, our priority is always their health and well-being, so we closely monitor their weight, feeding, and overall health to ensure they are ready for their new home.
Q. What will they be like when I collect them, and bring them home?
Each baby is socialized, healthy, and strong before they are offered to their new families. But of course, every pig is different, so some may be shy and need to be given extra attention and care, some may be confident and extra socialable.
They have been tamed from a young age, but at a young age it is common for them to be skitish.
Q. What is the weaning process for a baby?
Q. What can I do in preperation for my new guinea pig/s?
Before collection, you will need to have set up their cage/pen, with a cozy, safe space for your new guinea pig, complete with fresh hay, bedding, water, and their regular food (we will provide takeover food, where you can mix into the food you want to use to ensure no upset tummies).
I can answer any questions, or give my advice and tips, anytime, you can contact me, either on my phone number (07534 679244) or whatever you find easier.
Q. Do I need to bring anything to collect my piggies?

I cannot recommend Serita enough. She was friendly and polite, helped me no end with questions and bonding my chosen guinea pigs. All her guinea pigs are beautiful and well cared for. She was especially lovely with my daughter today when we collected her girls. Thank you x

Our Journey Into Guinea Pig Breeding
Back in July 2022, we had a simple idea: to have a few guinea pigs as pets and maybe try our hand at breeding. Little did we know, that idea would grow into something much bigger. What started with just two guinea pigs quickly grew to 20+ and, before we knew it, we were fully immersed in the wonderful world of guinea pig breeding.
Watching the babies grow, and especially witnessing the mothers give birth, has been an incredible experience. The miracle of life is truly awe-inspiring—seeing tiny guinea pigs enter the world with fur, teeth, claws, and ready to start eating solid food and drinking from the water bottle within just a few days. It’s been a joy to watch them take their first wobbly steps and begin to explore the world around them.
Of course, getting everything set up for them took a lot of time, effort, and patience. But once we had our home and setup running smoothly, it all started to feel like clockwork. And the rewards? They’ve been more than worth it.
By May 2023, we had bred approximately 120 beautiful baby guinea pigs, all of whom have found loving, forever homes. Every single one of them holds a special place in our hearts, and we’re grateful to be a part of their journey.
As much as we’ve learned in this short time, there’s still so much more to discover. Caring for animals, big or small, is no small task. It’s a huge responsibility that comes with challenges, but the joy and happiness they bring make it all worth it. The love and gratitude we receive from our guinea pig families make every moment of hard work completely worthwhile.
We’re excited to continue this journey, learning and growing alongside our guinea pigs, and sharing that joy with you!
Important to Note: Ringworm & Mange
These are common infections in guinea pigs, especially in the young, old, pregnant, and immuno-compromised.
Ringworm, is a fungal infection that causes bald patches, often around the face and head, with crusty, red, flaky skin. The cause of ringworm in guinea pigs, often is from contact with another infected animal, whether that be a cow or another guinea pig, it can come from anywhere. But, this is not a major cause for alarm, the treatment is quite simple and can be done at home, not requiring vets.
Treatment:
- Isolate the infected guinea pig. To prevent the spread of this, the infected guinea pig will need to be isolated from other pets and animals until they have fully recovered (or no longer contagious).
- Medication/Treatment, I always use Beaphar Anti Ringworm Spray which you can find on amazon, or ebay, for as little as £10. To use, see the information leaflet in the product box. But it is simply spray on the affected area on your pet, at a distance of 5-10 cm away, recommended is 3 sprays per guinea pig, as you don't want to give them too much. This can be done every other day, until it has cleared.
Mange, is a skin condition caused by microscopic mites that burrow into the skin. It is characterized by intense scratching, hair loss especially on the back of the neck and back, crusty red sore and scaly lesions that may bleed, restlessness, and sometimes weight loss. It is commonly caught from hay, as this can be common in vacuum packed, shop-brought hay.
Treatment:
- Isolate the infected guinea pig. To prevent the spread of this, the infected guinea pig will need to be isolated from other pets and animals until they have fully recovered (or no longer contagious).
- Medication/Treatment. I always recommend Beaphar Anti Mange Spray it is an at-home treatment, so this mean no expensive vet bills, and can be brought on amazon and ebay for as little as £16. To know how to use it properly please see the information in the packaging. But this is how I use it, simply spray on the nape of their neck and affected areas, and again cannot be sprayed more than 3 times per pig as this will be too much at one time, continue this every other day until it has cleared up.
It is important though, to not be alarmed if your guinea pig catches this, it is important to catch it early, but if done so your guinea pig will be able to recover from this (mortality rate is quite low, and generally only in severe cases). This type of infection/conditions always looks a lot worse than it actually is ... We will always recommend buying these treatment before even getting your piggies, because of how comon this is, it is always a good thing to have just in case. If you have any concerns, or are struggling to identify which infection/condition it is, feel free to contact me.
